Using Loam
You may use Loam for personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not:
- Use Loam in any way that violates applicable law
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, modify, or exploit the app or its services
- Use automated means to access or scrape our plant identification service
- Share your account with others
Your content
Photos and information you submit remain yours. By submitting them you grant us a limited licence to process them in order to provide the service (plant identification, care advice, etc.). We do not sell your content or use it to train AI models.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any content you provide.
Loam Premium: subscriptions
Loam Premium is available as a monthly or annual subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app before purchase.
Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. Your subscription renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
Annual and monthly subscriptions include a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. The trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends.
To cancel or manage your subscription, go to iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or tap "Manage subscription" in Loam's Settings screen.
Fair use policy
Loam uses AI to power plant identification and the Garden Advisor. To ensure a good experience for all users, the following limits apply.
Free users:
- Plant identification: 10 per month
- Garden Advisor: 3 questions per month
Premium subscribers:
- Plant identification: up to 30 per day
- Garden Advisor: up to 20 questions per day
Free limits reset on the first of each month. Premium daily limits reset at midnight UTC.

Plant identification and care advice
Loam uses AI to identify plants and generate care advice. While we work hard to provide accurate information, plant identification and horticultural advice can be imprecise. Do not rely solely on Loam for decisions that could affect health, safety, or the wellbeing of people, animals, or plants.
Toxicity information is provided for general guidance only. Always consult a vet, medical professional, or qualified horticulturalist before acting on toxicity information.
Availability
We aim to keep Loam available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We may update, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where possible.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by UK law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Loam. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for Loam Premium in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Loam after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email.
Apple EULA
These terms are in addition to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement, which also applies to your use of Loam. View Apple's standard EULA.
